Paul Cruz, (AKA Paul Garnica) is a Casting Director, Actor, Writer, Producer, Entertainment Host and Director. The bulk of his professional credited work has been as a Casting Director but he is recently known for Producing the critically acclaimed indie film ‘Archaeology of a Woman,’ starring Oscar Nominee and Golden Globe Winning Actress, Sally Kirkland and Tony Award Winning Actress Victoria Clark, which garnered amazing reviews from the most influential film critics in the business, such as Pete Hammond, Michael Musto, Liz Smith, Rex Reed and Kevin Thomas to name a few. The film also received lots of Oscar buzz.
In addition, he is producing a loosely scripted comedy series he wrote, produced, cast and stars in (which ironically is about diversity in Hollywood), with guests such as Oscar Nominated Actress Sally Kirkland, Veteran Comedian and Actor Max Alexander, and Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Peabody Award Winning Director James Moll, whom he has also cast several pilots for such as the reality pilot ‘Shop Girls’ along with Emmy winning Producer Rob Lee, and the reality pilot ‘Players’ in conjunction with Oscar winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and their former production company, Live Planet.
He also cast the Emmy Award winning mini-series ‘Ten Days That Unexpectedly Changed America’ for James Moll and the History Channel, as well as ‘Voices from the List’ for both Oscar winners James Moll and Steven Spielberg. As an actor he has done tons of theater, commercials, music videos as well as TV and film work, and has been contracted for several series leads for major networks. He has written several feature film scripts, including one that will be starting production next year.
He worked as an online Entertainment Host for over 3 years and has covered many major red carpets in Hollywood, including the Oscars (Emmys, AMAs, VMAs, ESPYs, Grammys and other related events) and has interviewed over 300 celebrities and athletes. Paul splits his time between Palm Springs, where he is the Director of the Palm Springs International Comedy Festival, and Los Angeles where he often attends events such as the Emmy Awards and the SAG Awards, as well as other events, charities, and work in the entertainment industry, and still acts and casts as an independent Casting Director in between all of his new producing projects. He is a proud member of the Screen Actors – AFTRA Guild, The Television Academy and Actors Equity.
